Portrait of Marissa Weiss, wearing glasses and sitting in a chair with plants in the background.

Marissa founded The Teamwork Shop to help teams turn conflict from a strain and drain into a competitive advantage. She's seen firsthand that better teamwork unlocks energy, creativity, and productivity.

A self-described teamwork nerd, Marissa brings over 25 years of experience studying, teaching, and practicing the art and science of collaboration. She’s honed her approach everywhere from research labs and offices to remote wilderness expeditions where teamwork is essential for survival. Her work is rooted in practical teamwork experience plus formal study of organizational dynamics and leadership strategy, including training with The Leadership Consortium.

Whether you're navigating a backcountry expedition or a fast-changing product roadmap, Marissa knows that teamwork is what gets you through. She accelerates team effectiveness through a framework built on curiosity, strategy, and reciprocity. These three pillars help teams shift from friction to forward motion. Her method is clear enough to drive meaningful change and adaptable enough to meet the real-world challenges managers face every day.

When she’s not guiding teams toward more generative collaboration, Marissa can be found baking sourdough bread, biking, contra dancing, or playing board games.
